What is Neupro?
Neupro (rotigotine) is a medication delivered via a transdermal patch for the treatment of Parkinson’s disease and moderate to severe restless legs syndrome. It is sometimes prescribed for the treatment of depression.
The size of the transdermal patch determines the dosage of Neupro. When starting Neupro, there is an initial period during which the dosage is slowly increased until it’s determined what dose best controls the patient’s symptoms. After the dosage is determined, a new patch is applied each day.
What does Simplefill Provide?
Parkinson’s Disease (PD) is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that impairs the ability to move. It also causes tremors, depression, and even hallucinations due to nerve cell damage in the brain. There is no cure and no known way to slow its progression. While Neupro provides symptomatic relief, Parkinson’s patients maintain hope that there will be a scientific breakthrough one day soon.
If there’s one word that truly describes life with Parkinson’s disease, it’s “uncertainty.” Patients know that barring the discovery of a cure, their motor functions will continue to deteriorate, although the pace of disease progression varies from one person to the next. The last thing PD patients need is uncertainty about being able to maintain an uninterrupted supply of the Neupro they rely on to help manage their symptoms.
Simplefill aims to eliminate that uncertainty by providing a bridge between PD patients who need help paying for their Neupro and the programs that offer such help.
How does Neupro Work?
Neupro is classified as a dopamine agonist, meaning that it stimulates dopamine receptors in the brain. It’s the drop in dopamine levels that produces the symptoms of Parkinson’s disease. Neupro is absorbed through the skin directly into the bloodstream and mimics the action of dopamine.
