What Is Eliquis?
Eliquis (apixaban) is a prescription medication used to decrease the chance of a stroke in patients with atrial fibrillation and to prevent blood clots from forming in the lungs (pulmonary embolism) or in the veins, most notably the veins in the legs (deep vein thrombosis).
Eliquis works by attaching to a protein, called Xa, which is produced in the human liver and acts as an active blood clotting factor—a substance that causes blood clots to form. By binding to Xa, Eliquis prevents it from working, which decreases the likelihood of clots forming.
Eliquis comes in tablet form and is taken by mouth twice per day, with or without food. Ideally, the second dose should be taken 12 hours after the first, ideally 12 hours apart.
The average retail cash price of a 30-day supply of Eliquis is $620.38 with no insurance applied.
Who Is Eligible for an Eliquis Savings Card?
To be eligible to receive an Eliquis discount card, a patient must:
- Reside in the U.S. or Puerto Rico
- Be at least 18 years old
- Have commercial health insurance that covers Eliquis at less than 100%
Those who are insured through a government-funded health plan (e.g., Medicare, Medicaid, CHAMPUS, Department of Defense, Veterans Affairs insurance, or a similar federal or state-sponsored plan) are ineligible for an Eliquis savings card. There may be an exception for individuals with Medicare Part A or Part B who also have commercial prescription coverage for Eliquis.
How Much Can I Save with an Eliquis Savings Card?
When used to fill Eliquis prescriptions at a participating pharmacy, an Eliquis savings card can reduce your out-of-pocket cost to as little as $10 per month for up to 24 months after card activation. The first month’s supply contains up to 74 tablets; each fill after that is for up to 60 tablets. The maximum benefit for any patient is $6,400 in a single year.
How Can Simplefill Help Me Save on Eliquis?
In its own way, Simplefill has taken up the battle against high U.S. prescription costs. We believe it is completely unacceptable for Americans not to be able to afford the medications that are essential to controlling chronic medical conditions—medications that may need to be taken for years, or even for a lifetime. Patients must be able to maintain an uninterrupted supply of the medications that can control their symptoms and slow disease progression.
Living with an elevated risk of stroke is inherently stressful. Adding the financial stress of struggling to pay for medications like Eliquis can be detrimental to the patient’s health, as stress is known to trigger episodes of atrial fibrillation. We strive to reduce that stress by connecting those who need help paying for their prescriptions with appropriate sources of prescription assistance. one of which may be a prescription savings card.
