What Is Xolair?
Xolair (omalizumab) is prescribed for the treatment of:
- Moderate to severe persistent asthma in patients 6 years of age and older whose asthma symptoms are not well controlled with inhaled corticosteroids.
- Chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps in people 18 years of age and older when nasal corticosteroids have not worked well enough.
- Chronic hives without a known cause in people 12 years of age and older when H1 antihistamine treatment has not prevented further episodes.
XOLAIR is administered through subcutaneous injection once every 2 or 4 weeks.
What Does Simplefill Provide?
Severe asthma can be life-threatening. According to the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America, an average of 10 people in the U.S. die from asthma every day. Living with a potentially life-threatening chronic disease can be very stressful for both patients and their family members. Worrying about how to pay for Xolair only adds to that stress.
Simplefill can provide peace of mind about maintaining an uninterrupted supply of this essential but costly medication. Our mission is twofold: 1) raising public awareness of the existence of patient assistance programs and 2) connecting people who need patient assistance with the programs that can provide it.
How Does Xolair Work?
Xolair is classified as a selective immunosuppressant. It works by inhibiting the binding of IgE to IgE receptors on the immune system’s mast cells and basophils—cells that contain histamine and heparin. Histamine contracts the smooth muscle tissue in the lungs, which makes breathing difficult. It also causes allergy symptoms such as a runny nose, watery eyes, tissue swelling, itchy skin, and hives. Heparin inhibits blood clotting. By inhibiting the binding of IgE to the IgE receptor, Xolair prevents the release of histamine and heparin.
How to Get Xolair Prescription Assistance
Nobody wants to deal with red tape or paperwork, so we’ve eliminated them from our process for obtaining assistance with the cost of your Xolair prescription. All you need to do is become a Simplefill member by applying online or by calling us at 1(877)386-0206 and then participate in a brief telephone interview with one of our patient advocates.
We’ll take care of everything from that point on. We’ll submit an application on your behalf, and when it’s approved we’ll go ahead and get you enrolled.
Longer term, we’ll make sure you continue to receive Xolair patient assistance for as long as you need it and qualify for it. All we ask of you is to notify us of any changes in your medical treatment, income, or insurance status that could have an impact on your need or eligibility for patient assistance.
