What Is Benlysta?
Benlysta is a type of biological therapy. When a person has lupus, their immune system creates damaging antibodies that attack their own tissues. Benlysta works by decreasing the activity of B-cells, a type of white blood cell that makes antibodies. It does this by blocking the biological activity of B-lymphocyte stimulator, a naturally occurring protein which helps the damaging B cell survive longer.
