What is Tremfya?
Tremfya (guselkumab) is prescribed for the treatment of moderate to severe plaque psoriasis in adults who are candidates for systemic therapy or phototherapy. Plaque psoriasis is a chronic autoimmune condition characterized by the rapid growth of skin cells, leading to the formation of thick, red, and scaly patches on the skin.
Tremfya is self-administered by subcutaneous injection on a specific schedule. A single-dose prefilled syringe containing 100 mg of Tremfya is used initially (week 0) and again in week 4. After week 4, the same dose is administered once every four weeks (weeks 8, 12, 20, etc.)
What Does Simplefill Provide?
Plaque psoriasis is a chronic condition with no known cure. The scaly skin it causes can be embarrassing as well as uncomfortable. At Simplefill we believe that no one should be denied the opportunity to achieve symptomatic relief due to the high cost of medication. That’s why we work to raise awareness of patient assistance programs that can drastically lower the cost of medications needed to manage chronic diseases. Our goal is to connect people who need such assistance with the programs and organizations that can help.
How Does Tremfya work?
Tremfya contains the active ingredient guselkumab, which is a monoclonal antibody that specifically targets and blocks interleukin-23 (IL-23). IL-23 is a protein involved in the inflammatory response underlying psoriasis.
By blocking IL-23, Tremfya helps to reduce the inflammation and abnormal skin cell growth associated with plaque psoriasis, leading to improvement in symptoms such as itching, scaling, and redness. Tremfya is typically administered via subcutaneous injection at regular intervals, as prescribed by a healthcare professional.
It’s important for individuals considering Tremfya or any other medication to discuss its potential benefits and risks with their healthcare provider, as well as to follow their healthcare provider’s instructions regarding proper use and monitoring.
