What is Adlyxin?
Adlyxin (lixisenatide) is a medication prescribed for managing blood sugar levels in adults with type 2 diabetes. It is often used in combination with other diabetes medications. Adlyxin is administered through subcutaneous injection, typically under the skin of the abdomen, thigh, or upper arm.
Treatment usually starts with a daily dose of 10 micrograms for 14 days. After this initial period, the dose is increased to 20 micrograms daily.
What Does Simplefill Provide?
A diagnosis of type 2 diabetes can lead to serious complications such as vision loss, heart failure, kidney disease, nerve damage, slow-healing wounds, and amputations. Avoiding such complications requires patients to make lifestyle changes and maintain an uninterrupted supply of essential and often costly medications. Having to pay high prescription costs can seriously ramp up the stress level to the point that it impairs the quality of life.
At Simplefill, we don’t think you should be forced to skimp on other necessities to pay for the medication to manage your type 2 diabetes. Fortunately, assistance is available for many patients, though they may not be aware of it. That’s why we have made spreading the word about the availability of prescription assistance a top priority. And we work hard to connect people who need help to greatly reduce the cost of their prescription medications with the sources that can provide it.
How does Adlyxin Work?
Adlyxin is classified as a glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonist. It helps the pancreas produce insulin more effectively when blood sugar levels are high. It also causes the stomach to empty more slowly, which slows the absorption of glucose into the bloodstream. Finally, Adlyxin suppresses the post-meal release of glucagon, a hormone that increases blood sugar levels. All three of these mechanisms of action contribute to Adlyxin’s effectiveness in lowering blood glucose levels.
